Nepal GK for CMAT: Six Facts and a Better Revision Method

Nepal GK for CMAT is easier to revise when every fact has a topic, a source and a clear question. This small practice set focuses on institutional history and World Heritage. It is a starting lesson, not a complete General Awareness syllabus or a prediction of examination questions.

All six questions are original MKS exercises. Their factual answers were checked against Nepal Rastra Bank and UNESCO publications on 20 September 2026. Try the questions before opening the source links in the explanations.

Answers with primary sources

Q1 — B, Nepal Rastra Bank. NRB identifies itself as Nepal’s central bank. Do not assume that a bank with “Nepal” in its name has the same role. In your revision notes, connect each institution to its function rather than memorising a list of abbreviations. Nepal Rastra Bank introduction

Q2 — C, 1956. NRB’s introduction gives 1956 as its establishment year. It also names the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 1955. These refer to different things: the year in a law’s title and the year the institution was established. Read the question carefully before selecting a date. NRB institutional history

Q3 — A, Lumbini. UNESCO records Lumbini as the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. Link the place with its significance; that connection is more useful than remembering a location name in isolation. This question does not ask for a disputed chronology or a modern administrative boundary. UNESCO: Lumbini

Q4 — D, Sagarmatha National Park. UNESCO’s property description identifies Mount Sagarmatha within the park. Use an authoritative map or institutional description when studying location questions. Q5 — B, 1979. UNESCO lists 1979 as the inscription year. A park’s establishment and its World Heritage inscription are different events, so always label a date with what happened. A bare year in your notebook is easy to attach to the wrong event. Sagarmatha inscription details

Q6 — C, Kathmandu Valley. UNESCO describes the property through seven monument zones, including the three Durbar Squares named in the question. Here, Kathmandu Valley is the listed cultural property; the squares are components of that property. UNESCO: Kathmandu Valley

Build notes you can trust later

Give each entry four fields: question, answer, primary source and checked date. Add one short explanation of a likely confusion, such as establishment versus inscription. This makes revision more useful than repeatedly reading an unlabelled list of dates.

Separate relatively stable history from changing information. Current officeholders, economic figures and policy announcements require a date and more frequent checks. When recording a statistic, include the period it describes and its unit; a publication date alone does not identify the period measured.

Review with questions, not recognition alone

Cover the answer column and explain each fact from memory. If you miss an answer, open the source and check what the question actually asks. Then write a fresh question about the same fact in different wording.

Keep the scope balanced as you expand your notes. This lesson covers only a few Nepal-focused institutions and heritage facts. Continue with other preparation areas rather than treating six correct answers as completion of General Awareness.
